Through hands-on creative practice, we host workshops that explore ancestral knowledge, cultural memory, and the energies of the Cholq’ij. Each session is a space for learning, co-creation, and collective healing.

Maya Backstrap weaving workshoP

Organized a workshop on ancestral weaving traditions with the Mayan Backstrap Weaving Workshop led by Sari Monroy Solís. Participans learned the rich history of backstrap weaving and its deep cultural significance to Indigenous communities from Mesoamerica to the Andes.

This 2-day workshop, explored the art of plain weave and brocade motifs while delving into the meanings behind these patterns. The workshop included history of the loom and hands-on experience with ancestral tools.

Ixim + The Cholq’ij

Honoring ixim (corn) as ancestor and sacred sustenance across Abya Yala, this workshop traced corn’s path as both nourishment and ceremony. Through stories and the making of chicha, we reconnected with corn’s teachings. The gathering was co-presented by Lorena Rodríguez, Lina Kaneda, and Araceli Moreno, whose offerings carried both ancestral knowledge and joy.

Cacao + The Cholq’ij

This gathering centered the medicine of cacao—its history, role in Mesoamerica, and its continuing power as a connector. We were joined by Karla Rueda of Cru Chocolate, who offered teachings and tastings that deepened our collective reflection on cacao as both food and ceremony.

Creating Your Altar Space
